I feel that I am reminded every time I turn on the news, that the people of this nation no longer hold the power to decide the fate of their nation. People who wish to speak out against government policies and current legislation are touted as nut-jobs, and crazy. We have legislation that specifically limits our second amendment rights, then again, with as pissed as people are getting, its probably good for the health of our oppressors. I claim no party membership, but I am a constitutionalist, and a bit libertarian. It appalls me that our government is allowed to run roughshod over our Constitution like its a doormat to the capitol. We are being presented with legislation that grows the size of our government and increases the national debt daily. Our "representatives," are working for the special interest groups, lobbyists, and of course the good of their party and themselves. Notice there is no mention of the word constituent in that statement. I believe that people are getting fed up, and it's about time. We have a president that has kept almost none of his promises made during his campaign, but I suppose that is par for the course in this country no matter what office you run for. For someone who was elected with such a majority of popular vote, his approval rating has begun a downward spiral. Our nation is in economic despair, and our people without jobs. We move toward a socialist, even communist nation with every action that comes out of Washington.
Apparently we have forgotten our rights, and the words of those who ensured we would have a free nation, and fought for the foundation of America. Thomas Jefferson believed that government needed to be overthrown every 20 years or so, and a new one put in place. John Locke, the philosopher from which many of our founding ideals were taken, also believed in the continual revolution of a people, when they became dissatisfied with their government. Our nation is no longer for the people, nor by the people, we are just a bunch of, well, people. I encourage you to re-read our Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and other letters and documents that helped form our nation. Look at what we have become. Isn't it time for real change in America? Time to regain our power as the people to whom this nation belongs? Call your representatives, and spam their in box. Let them know you are tired of what is going on, and remind them who gave them their office. If you truly believe that your representatives or senators are doing a great job, then let them know it, but please be sure you do a little research before you pat them on the back. Be an active participant in your own rescue. Stop arguing, start doing something. It is time to once again take our nation back, regain our freedom, and become once again, a nation of, by, and for the people.
